Call six plumbers in this metro and ask what they charge. Most won't tell you until someone's standing in your kitchen. We think that's backwards, so here are our numbers:

We show up when we said we would

This sounds like a low bar. In this trade it isn't. The single most common thing our customers mention is that we turned up in the window we gave them.

If we're running late, you get a call. Not a silent two-hour window that turns into four.

We explain it before we do it

You should understand what's wrong with your plumbing before you agree to pay for it. That means plain language, the actual options — including the cheaper one — and a straight answer when you ask whether something really needs replacing.

Sometimes that answer costs us money. Water pooling under a water heater is a good example: four of the five causes are repairs, not a replacement, and we'll tell you that rather than sell you a new unit you didn't need. Same with tankless — we install plenty of them, but we'll also tell you when a standard tank is the smarter buy for your house.

We treat your house like someone lives in it

Shoe covers, drop cloths, and the job site cleaned up before we leave. Crawlspaces put back the way we found them. It's a small thing that says a lot about how a company operates.

Licensed, insured, permitted

We're a licensed Oregon contractor, CCB #200212, and we pull permits on the work that requires them — water heater replacements included. An unpermitted install isn't a bargain; it's a problem deferred until you sell the house and a buyer's inspector goes looking for the paperwork.

Emergencies get answered

Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. Emergency calls get answered around the clock, because burst pipes don't check the calendar.

What we're not

We're not the biggest outfit in the metro, and we don't have a fleet of vans or a call center. If you want a company that can put six trucks on a commercial site tomorrow, that isn't us.

What you get instead is a small licensed crew that answers its own phone, quotes honestly, and has to live with its reputation in the same neighborhoods it works in. For most homeowners, that trade is a good one.
